Visit Loudoun works with the Virginia Film Office and the film industry to respond to inquiries about using Loudoun as a backdrop for movies, commercials, photoshoots, and other film and video projects. Visit Loudoun assists location scouts with finding sites and options for shooting as well as serving as their local liaison to the community for contacts with business owners, homeowners, permit requirements, and other services they may need. When Loudoun County and its jurisdictions are selected for a film and video project, Visit Loudoun assists with accommodations and catering needs by generating a sales lead for those services.
Film and video projects are beneficial to the community from an economic impact standpoint, from the spending by the cast and crew, hiring of catering companies and restaurants for meals, and location fees paid to businesses and homeowners. There are additional benefits such as image positioning and awareness of locations used in a photoshoot.
