Orchards & U-Picks

From orchards filled with fruit to gardens of flowers and fields with that famous orange gourd we like to carve up at Halloween, U-pick is big business in Loudoun.

Family-run Wegmeyer Farm has strawberry fields at locations in Hamilton and south of Leesburg. Come spring, visitors get to walk acres of rows and pile five-pound buckets high with the ripe red berries. At kid-friendly agribusiness Great Country Farms in Bluemont, visitors can pick strawberries, cherries and black raspberries in spring, peaches and blackberries for summer and apples later in the year.

Come fall, both these farms and Temple Hall Farm in Lucketts have pumpkins to pick - everything from traditional Jack-O-Lanterns to magnificent saucer shaped heirlooms.

Loudoun u-pick entails more than fruit and pumpkins. On select days of the year visitors get to pick - or rather cut - dahlias, peonies, sunflowers and more in the fields of floral designer Holly Chapple’s Hope Flower Farm & Winery outside Waterford, while from May to October Fields of Flowers in Purcellville opens for visitors to gather marigolds, snapdragons, dahlias, hydrangeas and more.
