The year 2007 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of Loudoun County. 2008 will mark the 250th anniversary of the establishment of Leesburg and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Purcellville. To commemorate these anniversaries, events will be held throughout the year, with the main celebrations taking place the week of May 14-19, 2007. A special community commemoration and celebration will be held on May 19, 2007.

Community Celebration at the Courthouse – A special celebration will be held to commemorate the anniversary at the Leesburg Courthouse. It will include speeches from officials and re-enactors, live music, tours of the courthouse and historic records, a stamp station, the burying of the Millennium Time Capsule, and other events.|

Bus Tours of the County – Bus tours of the county will be conducted by local historians highlighting the history of western and eastern Loudoun. Additionally, staff from the Loudoun County Economic Development Department will narrate tours on economic development.

East Meets West Walk on the W&OD Trail – This is a walk that will bring together citizens from eastern and western Loudoun County. It will begin at two specific points, one in the east and one in the west. Walkers will come together in Leesburg at the Douglass Community Center for a reception and to receive giveaways. Participants will need to pre-register.

County Government Buildings Open Day – All county government buildings will be open with displays highlighting 250th Anniversary Projects. Staff will be on hand to explain displays and answer questions.
Leesburg-Loudoun Anniversary Committee
The Leesburg-Loudoun Anniversary Committee was established to coordinate the commemoration of not only Loudoun County's 250th anniversary, but also the Town of Leesburg's 250th anniversary in 2008, and to participate in the state of Virginia's efforts to celebrate "America’s 400th Anniversary: Jamestown 2007”. The vision of the committee is to fully engage the Loudoun/Leesburg community to participate in anniversary programs and projects, and to be recognized as a premier Jamestown 2007 community partner.
